We assess before replacing
Existing keypads, amplifiers, cabling, speakers and circuits may still have value if they are reliable and supportable.

Crestron Home Durban & KZN
Design, installation, repair and recommissioning by a Crestron-certified Durban integration team
Crestron installer Durban
DG Technologies designs, installs and supports Crestron Home systems for Durban and KwaZulu-Natal properties where lighting, audio, cinema, climate, security and networking need to work together reliably.
Our approach is technical, but not wasteful. We do not believe the most expensive Crestron solution is automatically the right one. A good system should fit the home, the client and the long-term support reality.
That means we assess the property first, decide what should be kept, what should be replaced and where money will genuinely improve reliability or the everyday experience. If the home already has an older control system, start with our broader legacy Crestron and smart home system rescue approach before assuming everything must be replaced.
Crestron without waste
Many homeowners look at a professional Crestron quotation and ask a fair question: how can a lighting or control system cost this much? We do not expect clients to understand processors, relay modules, dimming loads, network architecture or audio distribution. That is our job to explain.
If a home can deliver the same everyday experience by reusing working keypads, consolidating audio zones, replacing unsuitable dimmers with reliable relay modules, repurposing good amplifiers and using the Crestron Home app instead of unnecessary touch panels, we will say so.
We do not remove features. We remove waste.
Existing keypads, amplifiers, cabling, speakers and circuits may still have value if they are reliable and supportable.
The goal is to keep the everyday experience strong while removing unnecessary hardware, duplicated zones and complexity.
For many homes, Crestron Home gives the client a refined residential control experience without overbuilding the system.
Processors, lighting hardware, networking, power protection and serviceability matter more than impressive equipment lists.
Crestron competence
DG Technologies is led technically by David Morel, a Crestron-certified technical director with more than two decades across AV, automation, ICT infrastructure, networking and intelligent environments.
Rooms, scenes, controls and hardware are planned around how the home is actually used.
Scene-based lighting, keypad logic, LED load compatibility and DALI coordination where required.
Legacy Crestron systems are assessed, documented, repaired and recommissioned before replacement is recommended.
Touch screens, keypads, remotes and the Crestron Home app are configured as a coherent control layer.
Processors, switches, Wi-Fi, AV equipment and power protection are planned for reliability and support.
Documentation, sensible hardware choices and service access are considered from the start.

Right-sized engineering
A Crestron project is not only a list of hardware. The real value is knowing what to replace, what to keep, where to spend money and where not to.
For example, an older home may still have usable keypads and amplifiers, but unsuitable incandescent-era dimmers on modern LED lighting. Replacing the wrong dimming hardware with the correct relay or LED-compatible solution is not a downgrade. It is better engineering.
If we would not spend the money in our own home, we will not ask a client to spend it. For the broader philosophy behind this, read what it is like working with DG Technologies.

Crestron questions
Yes. DG Technologies designs, installs, repairs and supports Crestron Home and Crestron lighting-control systems for homes and selected hospitality projects across Durban and KwaZulu-Natal.
For serious integrated homes, DG Technologies usually recommends Crestron Home because it is built for residential control, app use, touch screens, keypads, lighting scenes, audio, cinema, climate and selected security integration.
Yes. We assess legacy Crestron systems, document the equipment, identify what can be saved, repair the underlying faults and recommend a phased upgrade path where older hardware is no longer practical.
No. DG Technologies does not believe the most expensive system is automatically the right one. The right design depends on how the home is used, what equipment can be retained and where reliability will genuinely improve.
